February First Friday

FF photo EdGot the winter blues? Frankford Avenue has just the thing to cheer you up. Bundle up, grab a friend and head out to the arts corridor to see old pals and maybe make a few new ones.  The new vintage boutique, two percent to glory, makes her First Friday debut. Throw in a pony, some vegan pastries,  talented artists and the usual food and drink, and you have yourself a night to remember.

Part Time Studios

A collaboration of three great friends that happen to be artists,  joining forces to create The Pony Project. The Pony Project took place in Gap, Pennsylvannia on a miniature pony farm owened by an Amish family.

Extra Extra

‘Casual Friday’ jokes at this generation’s failure to bring little more than a sarcastic nod to combat the ills of humanity. Sculptures from Joel Dean, Allistair Matthews, Lee Freeman and Michael Hunter.

Walking Fish Theatre

‘Past is Present’, a one-of-a-kind event, is a fresh, daring collaborative exploration honoring African ancestry. Audiences can expect an evening of photography, videography, choreography, poetry, music, acting, storytelling and much more. Starts at 6 pm.

Atlantis: The Lost Bar

Artist Cameron Blythe will display a collection of large vinyl wall murals, incorporating imagery from photos of Kensington. Cameron’s work has been inspired by her 11 years living in New Mexico and her 10+ years working in the sign industry.

Proximity Gallery
2434 East Dauphin,
Proximity will be featuring the work of Justin Pereka, a reflection on the last 30 years of his life. The artifacts on display represent what is left after time has passed. This show is an opportunity for the public to view the Justin’s life, encouraging them to reflect on their own experiences with life, love and loss.

Highwire Gallery

This juried show called on artists to explore the concept of devotion.  Jurors Colin Keefe and Andrea Wohl-Keefe are co-directors of Mount Airy Contemporary Artists space.

GERM Books and Gallery

New show “Art Inspired by Nikola Tesla” is a benefit for Nikola Tesla Investors Club. The creative and the science worlds come together at one of the most unique destinations along the corridor.

Memphis Flats

a must see industrial design exhibit, “Technology in Motion: An Evolution of Philadelphia Invention” by Christini Awd.

Bella Sera Cafe

This delightful vegan café will celebrate the evening with free samples of organic wine and vegan pastries. Artists Matthew Collazio will decorate the space.

Sarah Anderson’s boutique holds hundreds of vintage clothing items, accesoriess and unique found objects. Be assured that each item in the store had a history known by the store’s owner.

O’Reilly’s Pub
Frankford Avenue and Lehigh, The northern bookend of the corridor joins in the festivities this month. Grab dinner from the hearty menu and listen to the music of the Sindi Raymond Band at 8 pm.

Rocket Cat Cafe

Philadelphia Argentine Tango School
2030 Frankford Avenue, The opening reception will feature the paintings of seasoned Argentine artist, Jose Garnica. And of couse, partners Meredith and Andres will offer free tango lessons and dancing during this open house. Get a taste of the passionate, sensual dance before signing up for classes.
