Kensington CAPA keeps it interesting

Setting up the block party on Amber Street
Setting up the block party on Amber Street

If you hear thumping base and happy teenagers around the 2500 block of Frankford today, its coming from Kensington CAPA.

School officials are trying a new strategy to combat extreme absenteeism that has become the norm on very hot days in Philadelphia Schools.  Every teenager dreads sitting in a sweltering classroom in May and June, while there they dream of the countless block parties that spring up all over the neighborhood through the summer.

So, school staff has decided to bring the party to the school in an effort to keep kids interested, smiling, and most importantly: at school.
